At Novant Health Ironwood Family Medicine, we understand children do not come with manuals. That’s why we’re always here to answer your questions, address your concerns, and identify minor problems or delays before they become bigger issues. And, since we treat the whole family, we’ll understand how an illness can affect all of you or how changes in your health could affect your child’s.
Our providers offer well-child care for children starting just days after birth. Typically, well-child visits happen at the following ages:
- After hospital discharge
- One month
- Two months
- Four months
- Six months
- Nine months
- 12 months
- 15 months
- 18 months
- 24 months
- 30 months
- Yearly starting at age 3
At well-child appointments, your child’s provider will complete a physical exam as well as growth and development checks. Our office follows the American Academy of Pediatrics' vaccination schedule, so you can rest assured knowing your child will get vaccinations on time.
When your child is not feeling well, we're here to help. We reserve same-day and next-day appointments for sick or injured patients. If your child is sick, call us at 336-605-1337 so we can see you as quickly as possible.
School, sports and camp physicals
Often, physical exams are required before your child attends school or camp, or participates in a sport. This is to ensure your child can safely take part in the activity without endangering herself or others. Camp, sports and school physical forms can often be completed at the same time as your child's annual exam. If you have received a form to have completed, bring that with you to your child's appointment as we will not have access to it in our office.
Please note: If you are scheduling a school, camp or sports physical separate from your child's annual appointment, you will need to check with your insurer to determine if that appointment will be covered.
